Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal provides long-lasting (near permanent) results so you can stop spending time plucking, shaving or waxing. From Hair On uses the Apogee Elite laser by Cynosure. The Elite is two lasers in one – a 755 nm Alexandrite laser and a high powered 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser, making it ideal for all skin types, hair removal and skin issues.
Laser can be used to treat armpits, legs, bikini area, back, chest, shoulders, neck and face. Several sessions, 4-6 weeks apart are sometimes required for long lasting or near-permanent hair reduction.
Laser Hair Removal Process
Several weeks before your treatment, we recommend that you don’t wax or pluck hair, although you can shave. The day before a session, we recommend you shave the areas being treated.
During a session:
- Treated areas are cleansed
- The technician and client both wear protective goggles
- The Apogee Elite laser SmartCool technology produces a continuous flow of chilled air to cool the skin, increasing client comfort
- Skin is pulled taught as the technician applies the laser in pulses
- Laser pulses may feel like a light rubber band snapping against the skin
- You may hear a short “sizzle”, smell a burnt odour or see light whisps of vapour
Larger areas like the legs or back may take up to an hour, while smaller areas may take just minutes.
After a Treatment
- You’ll see noticeable hair reduction immediately which will improve
- 1 treatment provides 10-25% reduction according to the American Academy of Dermatology
- Treated areas will appear red and feel warm like a mild sunburn
- You can apply ice packs to increase comfort
- You should moisturize and protect skin with sunscreen
- Avoid direct sunlight
- Do not use tanning beds
After several treatments to the same area results may last many months or even years. You may notice that any hair that does come in is lighter and less noticeable.
